Description
The Palouse holds many surprises but none as great, for me, as this beautiful unrestored covered bridge. Known originally as the Harpole bridge but now as the Manning-Rye Bridge, it was built in 1922 by the Great Northern Railway to span the Palouse River. While initially serving the needs of the railroad, it is now part of a residence's driveway. Here, during Winter, it is partially covered by ice.
