The amusement park opened as Funtown U.S.A. in 1957.
After 1982, it was changed to "Funtown Pier".
In October 2012, Funtown Pier was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy a.k.a. Superstorm Sandy and the boardwalk fire of (September) 2013.
