Description
Hawthorn shield bug (Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale). The triangular shield on its back is formed from an enlarged scutellum (dorsal plate of cuticle). They are also called stink bugs because they emit a foul-smelling fluid when disturbed, as a defence against predators.
